Origin - Inuit/Eskimo Mythology.
Background - The Akhlut (Pronounced Ock-Lut or Ack-Lut) is a monster that takes the form of a composite animal that takes elements of both a wolf and a orca. It is a vicious and dangerous beast. Its tracks can be recognized as a set of wolf track leading to or from the waters edge. Along the Pacific Northwest Coast, this creature is called Wasco, The Sea-Wolf. A Wasco was known to terrorize the Haida villages along the coast of the island Haida Gwaii, off the shore of modern British Colombia and Alaska.
